Seattle Spinner Aditya Sareen Makes History Down Under

Your multi-ball pickup gizmo might have picked up our jaws, because they all hit the floor when we heard this news.

September 12, 2023.  In 1996 a then-20 year old Tiger Woods held a press conference to announce his intention to turn professional. He began that press conference with the words “I guess…hello world, huh?” Aditya Screen (known to his friends as “Adi”) may not have held a press conference, but last week in his own Hello World Moment, he let his prowess on the table do the talking as he made history by becoming the youngest ever to win the Men’s Singles title at the Oceania Championships. Additionally, in a grueling feat, Sareen entered eight (8!!!) events and reached the finals in every single event he entered.

Question: did Seattle Spinners coach Luda Sadovska even know, when she selected Adi with the 10th pick of the draft, that he was only 15 years old? At the time, selecting Sareen so early seemed to many a questionable pick, with so many other most proven veteran superstars still available. Sareen himself had reportedly entered himself in both the eastern and western division draft pools out of fear that he would not even be selected. Regardless, it now appears that Coach Sadovska may have made the best tactical decision of the entire draft, perhaps giving her the pole position for the MLTT Coach of the Year award. If Sareen is beating up on grown-ass men who have been training longer than he’s been alive NOW, for the love of all that’s holy what is this kid gonna be like to face in 3 years?  MLTT drafted players are signed for 3 years to their current team, so as Sareen gets better, the Seattle Spinners might become a mini-dynasty…and while trades and free agency are coming, what kind of massive return would Seattle demand for Sareen at this point?

A few days after the conclusion of the event came the earth-shattering news that Sareen has vaulted 202 spots from #241 in the world to #39, ranking him ahead of such luminaries as Tomislav Pucar (CRO), Shunsuke Toga (JPN) and Cho Seungmin (KOR), and just below a couple of absolute superstars in Kristian Karlsson (SWE) and An Jaehyn (KOR). He’s now, at the tender age of 15 years/~150 days, the highest ranked player in the MLTT. Pursuant to the previous blog article, can we all just take a moment and go over the the Players page on the WTT website and mash the living hell out of the heart button next to his name?!? While you guys do that, we’ll just stay here and watch the video in the footer below, one of the best points from the MLTT East Coast Combine between Sareen and another rising young star, Daniele Pinto of the Chicago Wind.
